Recovering the Unemployed and Inactive into the Economy
Aim
The aim of the Task Group was to advise on actions which are required to address the issue of recovering the unemployed and reducing the high levels of economic inactivity within the Northern Ireland economy.
Objectives
The Task Group would:
- review the research evidence and policies and programmes which seek to help the unemployed/inactive into work;
- identify key issues and barriers that the unemployed/inactive face which prevent their involvement in the labour market;
- identify best practices examples, particularly those influenced by or involving employers, which help the unemployed/inactive back into work;
- develop and recommend mechanisms through which best practice policies can be taken on board;
- provide the Adviser with an interim report on its findings by 31 January 2010, including recommendations which will assist the unemployed and help economically inactive individuals back into the workforce; and
- provide the Adviser with a draft report on the Task Group’s activities, findings and recommendations by 12 March 2010.
