Improving the Employment and Skills Advisory Infrastructure in Northern Ireland

Aim
The aim of the Task Group is to advise on actions which will improve the effectiveness of the employment and skills advisory infrastructure in Northern Ireland to ensure employers are effectively able to influence the employment and skills agenda and make recommendations through the Adviser to the Minister for Employment and Learning.

Objectives:

The Task Group will:
 
  • detail what government requires/needs from employers and employer bodies in relation to employment and skills advice to inform policy and delivery;
  • define the current structures for obtaining employers views;
  • define the roles and responsibilities of the current structures through which employers can influence the employment and skills system;
  • identify whether employer voice mechanisms are duplicating and/or where gaps exist within the current system;
  • assess the effectiveness of the current structures and the impact the constituent parts have on influencing employment and skills policy and delivery;
  • where necessary, develop and recommend mechanisms that could be used to simplify and improve the current system; and
  • provide the Adviser with a final draft report on the Task Group’s activities, findings and recommendations by November 2010.
